Join the DMC for a panel discussion about the opportunities new tech platforms and products present for managing personal finance and doing business differently.

This discussion will share insights about some of the new, ethical approaches to building consumer finance solutions and how they can help to improve money culture for the better. Yorkshire is home to some exciting FinTech (Financial Technology) companies, and more and more these companies are looking at disrupting existing models of banking, finance and money management. This event is ideal for anyone wanting to know more about the exciting things happening in tech, the role of more ethical models in tech, and trends and changes in the consumer finance landscape.
Helen Nugent: After 14 years in London writing for The Times and a number of other national newspapers, Helen has been back in the North West for ten years working as a freelance journalist and editor, content provider, media trainer, conference speaker/chair, and lecturer. While at The Times, she had a number of roles including News Editor, Lobby Correspondent in the House of Commons, and Business Writer. Over two decades, she has worked for, among others, The Guardian, The Observer, The Daily Telegraph, the Financial Times, The Mail on Sunday, The Times, the i, BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC local radio, Sky News, ITV, Big Issue North, and The Yorkshire Post. She was also Money Editor of The Spectator, and Editor of Nuclear Future magazine. As a Media Trainer and PR Consultant, clients have included global financial firms and public sector bodies. She is also the Founder and Editor of Northern Soul, a webzine about the North of England, and teaches journalism at Salford University. In 2017, she was shortlisted for Person with Purpose in the Northern Power Women Awards.
Jonathan Corner : Co-founder, Product & Customer Director
Jonathan has lead strategy & innovation teams in challenger banks, incubating and launching new propositions since 2004. Prior to founding ilumoni, he was part of the founding ExCo team that launched recently PRA authorised start-up bank Vive. He also counts Egg, first direct and HSBC in his Financial Services experience.
Jem Henderson: Entrepreneur Engagement Manager in Yorkshire for Tech Nation, fueling the growth of game-changing founders, leaders and scaling companies so they can positively transform societies and economies. She is a business woman in her own right, with a consultancy which works with leading names including Digital Catapult and Rolls Royce on strategy, content and communities.
