The Digital Media Centre is a £10.5 million landmark building situated in the creative heart of Barnsley. It combines dynamic design with the highest levels of environmental and social sustainability to create an environment rather than just a building.
The building reflects the traditional architecture of Barnsley in a contemporary way, acknowledging the dynamic digital industries that it will grow and support.
Constructed on the upper part of the former Courthouse station, with three blocks connected by an atrium, the Digital Media Centre affords excellent views over the surrounding valley and is a prominent landmark on the Barnsley urban skyline.
The building uses several energy efficient systems ranging from a biomass boiler, under floor heating and sophisticated BMS control of all M and E services within the building; the building exceeds the standard building regulations in all of these areas and has achieved a BREEAM rating.
