The Digital Media Centre offers a vibrant, affordable working environment designed to support the success and development of creative, media and digital businesses, with the emphasis on new ideas, collaboration, acceleration and innovation.
It offers a unique and exciting location for start up and growing businesses wishing to develop and exploit the potential of digital technologies as well as for established businesses looking to be part of an active and growing creative and digital sector.
The vision for the Digital Media Centre is to be: a "leading component of South Yorkshire's incubation and acceleration strategy for digital and creative businesses" and contribute to the economic regeneration of Barnsley through the promotion of, and support for, the application of digital technologies. The ultimate aim is for companies to graduate out of the centre and expand into the local economy.
The business incubator has 72 state-of-the-art offices offered on affordable all-inclusive easy in/out terms, desk rental options in a lively open plan environment, two virtual office packages, and conference and meeting facilities. The centre encompasses modern architecture, up-to-the-minute technology and flexible packages meaning that everyone from start-up companies through to relocating established companies have all of the facilities on hand to ensure their business is a huge success.
By working in a shared facilities environment, occupants are able to meet like-minded individuals with whom they can share ideas, learn from past experiences and build contacts. Regular coffee mornings and networking events held in the centre give resident companies the chance to hear talks on a variety of important business issues, keep up-to-date on industry developments and be part of an active community.
A range of specialist tailored business support and mentoring services are also available to help the occupants of the Digital Media Centre grow in a supportive and nurturing setting.
The DMC has recently received ICT Active accreditation which is designed to provide companies with the information they need to choose workspaces that have the right level of ICT provision for their needs.
